Position Overview:

FlexAI is seeking a highly skilled Release Engineer - Operating System to help package and maintain the FlexAI optimized Linux distribution, FlexOS, for on-premise deployments. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, secure, and efficient operating system while also providing the necessary documentation and operational guidance for customers. This role requires expertise in CI/CD automation, Linux kernel customization, and hands-on experience with bare-metal infrastructure. If you are passionate about open-source operating systems and have real-world experience managing large-scale deployments, this is an exciting opportunity to shape FlexAI's infrastructure.

What you’ll do:

• Package and maintain FlexOS, FlexAI's optimized Linux distribution, for on-premise deployments.

• Ensure high standards of quality, security, and performance across operating system releases.

• Automate CI/CD workflows using tools like Ansible to streamline OS release cycles.

• Customize and manage Linux kernel and drivers for FlexOS, building efficient toolchains.

• Perform benchmarking, performance profiling, and low-level debugging to ensure optimal system performance.

• Develop comprehensive documentation and operational guides to assist customer operational teams in deploying and managing FlexOS.

• Collaborate with distributed teams across FlexAI to ensure seamless communication and integration of new features and updates.

What you’ll need:

• 5+ years of experience working at an Open Source operating system provider (RedHat, Canonical, SUSE) or a cloud provider managing operating system images and artifacts.

• Strong expertise in CI/CD automation workflows and tools like Ansible.

• In-depth knowledge of Linux kernel, custom driver builds, and toolchains.

• Hands-on experience with bare-metal infrastructure deployment and optimization.

• Experience with performance benchmarking, profiling, and low-level debugging techniques.

• Proven ability to work with distributed teams across different time zones.

• Familiarity with security best practices in the context of operating system releases.

• Strong collaborative mindset, able to work effectively with cross-functional, distributed teams.

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Proactive problem-solving skills and a strong sense of ownership.
